"French Hospital Hit by $10M Ransomware Attack, Sends Patients Elsewhere"

The Center Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF), a 1,000-bed hospital located 28 kilometers from the center of Paris, recently faced a cyberattack forcing the medical center to refer patients to other facilities and postpone surgery appointments. Since CHSF serves a population of 600,000 people, any disruption to its operations can jeopardize the health and lives of people in a medical emergency. According to CHSF's announcement, the computer network attack renders the hospital's business software, storage systems, particularly medical imaging, and information system relating to patient admissions inoperable for the time being. The hospital's administration has not provided any additional updates on the situation, and the IT system outage that forced reduced operations continues to plague the facility. Those in need of emergency care will be evaluated by CHSF doctors, and if medical imaging is required for treatment, they will be transferred to another medical center. According to Le Monde, which obtained information from the country's law enforcement agencies, the ransomware actors who targeted CHSF demanded a $10 million ransom in exchange for a decryption key. This article continues to discuss the cyberattack on CHSF and the threat group suspected to have been behind this attack.
