Research conducted on the security of digital smart pens and the IV infusion pump used in healthcare organizations to prescribe and administer medication, reveals the processes at which flaws within such devices could be exploited by hackers, as well as the information that could be exposed. This article further discusses the uses of these devices, how such devices could be attacked in order to gain access to sensitive patient information, and how perpetrators can use this information.
