Aleksejs Kuprins, a security researcher from the cybersecurity threat intelligence firm, CSIS, discovered the infection of 24 Android apps available on the Google Play Store with a new Android malware, called Joker. These apps were collectively downloaded more than 472,000 times. The Joker malware has been discovered to be capable of stealing SMS messages, generating fake clicks through covert interactions with advertisement websites, adding infected victims to premium service subscriptions, and more.
