"How One Energy Department Lab Uses Physics to Boost Cybersecurity"

A new approach to cybersecurity has been designed by the Energy Department’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to improve upon the speed and security of sharing and protecting encrypted data. This method uses quantum light particles (photons) rather than mathematical algorithms for the protection of sensitive information as cybersecurity threats faced by the critical energy sector infrastructure have become increasingly more complex and frequent. This article further discusses the method designed by ORNL, how it is expected to enhance cybersecurity for the energy sector, as well as how it will improve upon encryption technologies.
