"Insider Attacks Becoming More Frequent, More Difficult to Detect"

Gurucul reports that 3 percent of cybersecurity professionals it surveyed are not worried about insider risk. With responses from more than 325 cybersecurity professionals, this research examines the most recent trends and challenges that organizations face as they seek to adapt to evolving insider threats, as well as how they are preparing to better protect sensitive data and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. Three-quarters of respondents feel moderately to extremely vulnerable to insider threats, an 8 percent rise from the previous year. This increase in perceived vulnerability coincides with a significant increase in insider attacks, as 74 percent of organizations report that attacks have become more frequent, which is a 6 percent increase over the previous year. 60 percent of organizations experienced at least one attack, and 25 percent experienced more than six attacks. Additionally, organizations struggle with insider threats in the cloud and lack the technical skills to detect and prevent them. This article continues to discuss key findings and observations from Gurucul regarding insider threats.
