"International Award-Winning Technology Protects the Power Grid by Hacking Would-Be Hackers"

A system aimed at improving the security of the power grid against hackers has been developed by Milos Manic, professor of computer science and director of VCU’s Cybersecurity Center, in collaboration with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The protection system, called Autonomic Intelligent Cyber Sensor (AICS), uses machine learning (ML) to continuously learn from attempted attacks and improve itself. This article continues to discuss AICS, the targeting of critical infrastructures by hackers, and the potential catastrophic consequences posed by the hacking of critical infrastructures.
