These "faketivists" imitate the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), as well as the aesthetic and rhetoric of legitimate hacktivist groups. Close observation reveals that they typically emerge shortly after major geopolitical events, with no established history of activity, and align with the interests of their government sponsors.
