"Killnet Targeted US Healthcare Sector Organization"

The US Department of Health and Human Services Cybersecurity Coordination Center (HC3) says that the pro-Russian threat actor group Killnet has tried to achieve its political goals by targeting American hospitals and healthcare groups. After Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, a gang notorious for launching coordinated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) operations attacked numerous countries backing Ukraine. HC3 is monitoring hacktivist groups that have already impacted different countries and industries, including the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) sector in the US. According to US authorities, the hacktivist group KillNet recently targeted a healthcare institution in the US. According to the HC3's advisory, Killmilk, a senior member of the Killnet organization, has threatened to sell Americans' health and personal information in response to the continued US backing for Ukraine. Additionally, the group claims to have breached a US-based healthcare organization that assists US military personnel. Although Killnet attacks rarely inflict significant damage, they have the potential to result in several hours of service interruptions, which can have a significant impact on companies that are particularly sensitive to downtime, such as hospitals. HC3 warns that while the group's ties to the Russian government are unconfirmed, critical infrastructure organizations should consider Killnet a concern. This article continues to discuss Killnet's targets and political agenda.
