"Lithuanian National Cyber Security Center Launched a New Fraud Protection Tool"

The Lithuanian National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), in collaboration with the Internet Service Center DOMREG at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), has developed DNS Firewall, a new free tool for residents and organizations to help in the fight against cyber threats. According to Deividas Stumbras Director of the Cyber Defense Department at the NCSC, DNS Firewall will prevent devices from accessing malicious Internet resources known to the NCSC. Even if a user clicks on a link sent by a scammer, the malicious address will be blocked, and the user will be notified. DNS Firewall is a public DNS service that includes an additional security feature. The main difference between this and the standard Domain Name System (DNS) is that it provides additional protection against cyber threats such as fake bank websites, fraudulent trading platforms, sites that distribute malicious code, and other websites designated as harmful by the NCSC. When visitors type in the domain name, the standard DNS infrastructure ensures that they can see that page. However, fraudsters can use the DNS infrastructure to forge websites or distribute malicious software code. Users of the DNS Firewall will not be redirected to such malicious websites and will thus be protected, according to Tomas Mackus, Head of KTU Internet Service Center DOMREG. This article continues to discuss the DNS Firewall tool developed by the Lithuanian NCSC under the Ministry of National Defense in cooperation with the Internet Service Center DOMREG at KTU.
