According to a new study on cloud-native security, many cloud adopters do not understand the security risks of moving legacy applications to the cloud, leaving them vulnerable to various cloud-based attacks. Venafi surveyed 800 security and Information Technology (IT) leaders from organizations in the US, UK, Germany, and France. The study explored the top threats and challenges facing cloud-native security. In many cases, cloud-native security lags behind, and there is a lack of clarity regarding who should be responsible for the security function within engineering, platform, and development teams. This article continues to discuss the lack of understanding regarding the security risks associated with shifting to the cloud.
