"New Cyberattacks Are Being Launched Every Minute"

Between September and November 2022, BlackBerry's Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven preventative technology blocked over 1.76 million malware-based attacks. The attacks made up 62 per hour or more than one per minute. Several industries were targeted, including automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance. The report noted the rapid growth of attacks, prompting a switch from an annual to a quarterly reporting system. During the examined time period, BlackBerry noted that the US faced the most attacks, with about one million attacks, with Japan and Brazil ranking second and third, respectively. BlackBerry also revealed information regarding the most attacked operating systems, with Microsoft remaining the most frequently targeted. According to Statcounter, this could be because it remains a highly popular operating system, accounting for about 75 percent of desktop installations.
