"New FASTCash Malware Linux Variant Helps Steal Money From ATMs"
North Korean hackers are infecting financial institutions' payment switch systems with a new Linux variant of "FASTCash" to withdraw cash. FASTCash previously targeted Windows and IBM AIX (Unix) systems, but security researcher "HaxRob" found a Linux variant that targets Ubuntu 22.04 LTS distributions. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) first reported the malicious FASTCash ATM campaign in December 2018, attributing it to the state-backed North Korean hacking group known as "Hidden Cobra." This article continues to discuss the history and latest developments of the FASTCash malware.
