"Nokia Bell Labs Sponsors CyLab's Future Enterprise Security Initiative"

The frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks on businesses continue to grow. Although attacks on large multinational corporations make headlines, they are not the only targets, as cybercriminals are also going after small and medium-sized businesses, which are often found to lack the resources to adequately prevent, detect, and shut down breaches. Nokia Bell Labs has become a sponsor of Carnegie Mellon University's (CMU) CyLab Future Enterprise Security Initiative to help address this issue. The program's goal is to develop the knowledge and skills required to design and implement secure enterprise systems that are as accessible to small and medium-sized businesses. Michael Montag, Principal Security Researcher at Nokia Bell Lab, says it is critical that smaller enterprises, such as rural hospitals, local banks, and independent energy cooperatives, have top-tier, affordable ways to protect their businesses, suppliers, and customers from security breaches. As the "Metaverse" emerges and the fusion of the digital and physical worlds continues, the nature and scale of information networks evolve, as do network security expectations. The Future Enterprise Security initiative, which began in May 2022, focuses on methods and technologies that will help enterprises automate security management and data-driven decision-making as well as gain real-time and global visibility of threats through collaborative tools and trustworthy outsourcing. This article continues to discuss Nokia Bell Labs' sponsorship of CMU's CyLab Future Enterprise Security Initiative aimed at developing the knowledge and skills needed to create and execute secure enterprise systems that can be accessed by small and medium-sized businesses.
