"NSF Awards Researchers $1M to Improve Cybersecurity of Medical Data"

A team of researchers led by Professor Yan Luo of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell was awarded a $1 million grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of strengthening the privacy and security of patient data against cyberattacks. The team is working to develop a cyberinfrastructure that would allow medical data to be shared securely and in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). This article continues to discuss the purpose and goals of this NSF project.
