"Passwords Still Dominant Authentication Method, Top Cause of Data Breaches"

Most applications, business devices, and data use only usernames and passwords for authentication.  Passwords are still the top attack vector for organizations.  Researchers from EMA surveyed 200 IT and security managers and discovered that 42 percent of the respondents in the survey were affected by a breach because of a user password compromise.  Many companies do not teach proper password hygiene, which means many employees do not practice good password hygiene.  31 percent of the surveyed IT professionals indicated that their organizations had been breached because of user credentials being shared with unauthorized users.
