"Ransomware Gang Leaks Data Stolen from City of Oakland"

The Play ransomware group is leaking data stolen from a recent cyberattack against the City of Oakland, California. The initial data leak consisted of a 10GB RAR archive with multiple parts that contained private documents, employee details, passports, and identification cards. On February 8, the City of Oakland experienced a ransomware attack, which resulted in all Information Technology (IT) systems being taken offline until the network was secured. While the attack did not affect 911 and emergency services, numerous other systems, including phone service and systems used to collect fees, process reports, and issue permits and licenses, were taken offline. Oakland announced a local state of emergency to help accelerate orders, supplies, and equipment procurement, as well as activate emergency workers as necessary.
