"Researchers Find Marketplace on Dark Web That Sells Tools to Commit Identity Theft"
Researchers from Georgia State University and the University of Surrey conducted a study, which reveals the availability of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates to cybercriminals via the dark web. SSL and TLS certificates being sold on the dark web are packaged with crimeware that allows for the delivery of machine identities to cybercriminals. These machine identities can be used in the spoofing of websites, performance of attacks, and more. This article continues to discuss research findings pertaining to the dark web marketplace for SSL and TLS certificates.
