"RIT and Alstom Signaling Collaborate to Advance Transportation Cybersecurity"

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and Alstom, a French mobility technology company, will collaborate to promote cybersecurity education, development, and research within the transportation industry. Through this new partnership, Alstom will deliver educational, research, and career exploration options to RIT students. Alstom has also been appointed the theme sponsor for RIT's next Global Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) in 2023-2024. This coordinated effort further strengthens Alstom's support for clients' compliance with the Transportation Security Administration's cybersecurity directives for the rail industry. CPTC invites students from institutions throughout the world to compete in an ethical hacking competition. The competition helps students develop and improve the skills necessary for a position as a penetration tester in the cybersecurity industry, which has a serious talent shortage. In the past, competition scenarios have focused on the energy grid, hospitality, and finance. However, the next competition scenario will emphasize transportation and signal cybersecurity. Experts from Alstom will help model and develop the competitive environment. Students enrolled in the undergraduate computing security degree program at RIT will also have the opportunity to work with Alstom engineers and industry professionals who will teach about signal security. This article continues to discuss the new collaboration between RIT and Alstom aimed at bolstering transportation cybersecurity.
