"Royal Ransomware Demand Victims for up to $11 Million – CISA"

The US Homeland Security Department's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) reported that cybercriminals attacked US and foreign companies using a variant of the Royal ransomware. Once the threat actor infiltrates the target's system, they disable antivirus software and steal massive amounts of data before spreading encrypting malware. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) suspects that the Royal ransomware is developed from Zeon, a piece of malicious software. Royal actors have demanded ransoms ranging between $1 million and $11 million in Bitcoin. CISA stated in an advisory that in observed incidents, the actors do not include ransom amounts and payment instructions in the initial ransom note. Instead, the group seeks direct interaction with victims. This article continues to discuss information shared by CISA and other organizations on the Royal ransomware group.
