“‘Trackmageddon’ Vulnerabilities Discovered in (GPS) Location Tracking Services”

Security researchers, Vangelis Stykas and Michael Gruhn, revealed a series vulnerabilities contained by GPS and location-tracking services that could allow attackers to use the geolocation data collected by such services to track users. The set of vulnerabilities discovered by researchers, dubbed “Trackmageddon”, could be exploited by hackers to gain access to user information such as GPS coordinates, phone numbers, GPS-enabled device IMEI, serial number, and more. This article further discusses GPS tracking services and the newly discovered vulnerabilities that affect them, along with the disclosure of these flaws and security advisories provided by researchers.
