"UCalgary Legal Researchers Receive Grant to Expand Offerings in Cybersecurity"

Beyond the technical core of cybersecurity, there are complex policy and regulatory aspects. Therefore, the National Cybersecurity Consortium (NCC) has provided funding to the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law to develop programming aimed at training future lawyers, legal academics, and policy experts, as well as to advise on law and policy issues concerning and shaped by cybersecurity. The law school's research team comprises faculty members with diverse backgrounds and interests, including international law, financial crime, financial regulation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and more. The mission of the NCC is to build a pan-Canadian network that collaborates with the private and public sectors to lead world-class cybersecurity innovation and talent development and increase cybersecurity-related economic activity in Canada. The "Mobilizing Cybersecurity Regulation in Canada" project will provide a new way of thinking about technology, who uses it, and who or what protects the technology and the people who use it. This article continues to discuss the goals of the project.
