"Untrained Workers Don't Know Who to Turn to When Faced With Cybersecurity Threats"

When faced with a cybersecurity threat, 21 percent of the workforce does not know who to contact. According to a new report from the security awareness training platform KnowBe4, annual security training reduces that percentage to 17 percent. However, it is consistent repetition that produces the most significant change. When quarterly training is provided, 15 percent of employees are unsure what to do. Those who have completed monthly training have the best results, with only 12 percent not knowing who to contact. The report also examines training frequencies across industries, with education, technology, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals having the lowest monthly training rates, while hospitality and transportation have the highest, with 28 and 20 percent training monthly, respectively. Increasing the frequency with which employees complete security awareness training has a nearly universally positive impact. This article continues to discuss key findings from KnowBe4's research on employee security training across different industries.
