According to regulatory filings, an April ransomware attack on the biotech company Enzo Biochem compromised the test information and personal data of nearly 2.5 million individuals. Enzo Biochem, a biosciences and diagnostics company based in New York, disclosed on April 6 that it was the victim of a ransomware attack involving "unauthorized access to or acquisition of clinical test information for approximately 2,470,000 individuals." Names, test information, and around 600,000 Social Security numbers were accessed and, in some cases, exfiltrated from the company's Information Technology (IT) systems. No ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the incident. Enzo Biochem is the latest medical sciences company to experience a data breach due to a ransomware attack in recent months.
