According to the office, a cybercriminal stole the personal information of roughly 58,000 people. The office noted that it is working with federal, state, and local law enforcement to investigate the breach. During the investigation, it was discovered that the hacker accessed and copied files that contained personally identifiable information, including social security or driver's license numbers. The office noted that the voter registration system and the ballot tabulation system, which have additional layers of security, were not accessed.
