The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) has once again been recognized as a national leader in cybersecurity after receiving the National Security Agency's (NSA) designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research (CAE-R) for its doctoral programs. The designation acknowledges universities that demonstrate outstanding cybersecurity research while preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Marktoberdorf Summer School, a premier international program focused on engineering secure and dependable software systems.

Organized by fortiss and the Department of Informatics at Technische Universität München, and led by Peter Müller (ETH Zurich) and Alexander Pretschner (TU München, fortiss, bidt), the program brings together leading researchers and students to explore state-of-the-art approaches to building software systems that are both safe and secure.

The White House has released President Trump’s Cyber Strategy for America, outlining the Administration’s priorities for strengthening the nation’s position in cyberspace. The strategy emphasizes coordination across government and the private sector to advance cybersecurity capabilities, invest in emerging technologies, and sustain U.S. leadership in cyber innovation.

"In February 2024, a ransomware attack on Change Healthcare disrupted medical claims processing for nearly half of all U.S. health care transactions. The breach cost UnitedHealth Group over $2.8 billion, exposed the personal data of 190 million Americans, and forced hospitals nationwide to delay patient care. The cause? A remote access portal without multi-factor authentication. As one senator put it: “This hack could have been stopped with cybersecurity 101.”

To support critical infrastructure organizations in defending against cyber threats, the United States and six partner nations have released new cybersecurity guidance aimed at operators of operational technology (OT). The recommendations address a wide range of best practices, including isolating networks and improving system monitoring and logging.
