Lynne E. Parker is Assistant Director for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).  Prior to joining OSTP, she was Interim Dean of the Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), and is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at UTK.  She previously served as the NSF/CISE Division Director for Information and Intelligent Systems, and was one of the two co-chairs of the NSTC/NITRD Task Force on Artificial Intelligence that produced the 2016 “National Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Strategic Plan”.  She received her PhD in computer science from MIT, where she did research on multi-robot teams in the AI Lab.  She is an IEEE Fellow, Distinguished Member of ACM, Senior Member of AAAI, and recipient of the U.S. Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.
